As the #HireFriday Twitter community grows larger each week, there is always anecdotal evidence that the results are positive by the comments from job seekers who find employment using the concept of re-tweeting their credentials. Likewise, after the hour-long chat every Friday at Noon there is an outpouring of gratitude from people who benefit from the exchange. In order to grab some key metrics and improve this service, a study was begun in January 2011 using TweetReach to compare the results of various topics from week to week. This past week was a landmark! Thanks to the persistent following of job seekers and dedicated contributions of recruiters, coaches and HR people, #HFChat broke through the 1,000,000 barrier of people reached.

Of course, one thing that makes this possible is the voluntary contributions of various world renown guest hosts that bring their particular expertise to the table and offer advice and counsel to the eager #HFChat following. This week was not only the record breaker for total exposure for the year, it also was a record breaker in terms of stand-alone chat volume. Neal Schaffer brought his expert knowledge to the Noon meeting to discuss the use of LinkedIn to help move a job search ahead. There was a flurry of pre-chat tweets building up all week in anticipation of one of the hottest topics and one of the foremost authorities on the subject. Neal is the author of Understanding, Leveraging & Maximizing LinkedIn: An Unofficial Step-by-Step Guide to Creating & Implementing Your LinkedIn Brand – Social Networking in a Web 2.0 World.
Congratulations to Neal for leading a discussion that had an exposure of over 9.8 million impressions for the week. And of course, thanks as always to Margo Rose for inventing the rising star that so many depend on every week.

I hate to miss #HFChat (HireFridayChat) each Friday at noon ET. It’s fun and enlightening. It’s always a good thing when job seekers and job experts get together to exchange questions and sound advice. #HFChat rises above all the noise and hype and is a safe, caring place for people to gather who are in career transition mode. Thank you to Margo Rose (@HRMargo) for creating this wonderful resource for all of us to benefit.
